Matt and Jessica: Engagement Portraits in Annapolis

Matt and Jessica are an awesome couple that met at American University three years ago in the ROTC program. They have been in love since they met and are having their wedding here in Annapolis in January. The event is going on earlier then they had planned because Matt is being sent to do a tour of duty in Afghanistan in the spring. My hat goes off to anyone serving in any of the services because you never know what changes might be sent your way!! It is not an easy job and I admire anyone who does it. With the wedding at St. Annes and the Reception at the Governor Calvert House it is going to be a gorgeous Annapolitan wedding even if it isn't when Jessica had anticipated in the spring! The light was gorgeous as usual and we played all over town from the Capitol to the water! Thanks to you both coming out to meet me and do a fun shoot in Annapolis together! Can't wait for the wedding!

Chris and Kim: Virginia Wedding Photography

I loved photographing Chris and Kim's wedding because it had so many gorgeous and fun moments to photograph! The service at St. James Catholic Church in Falls Church VA was a stunning for a wedding. The service was in English and Spanish so it made the whole thing much more romantic for me! Languages are my hobby! It was great to meet all the family and guests that had traveled from all over the world to come for the wedding.

The reception was at Heritage Hunt Golf and Country Club provided a great background for the photos and the reception! After a fabulous meal and the first Waltz between Chris and Kim the party really got going. It started off with salsa dance lessons from Forever dancing! They had everyone up on that dance floor learning Salsa and it kept going even after I left two hours later! The music from Soliman International Music kept everyone moving through a Hora Loco which I had never seen! It involved masks and Kim was running around with angel wings and Chris was in a Crown!

I also had one of the best cakes I have ever tasted which I later found out was from Target! HOW GREAT IS THAT! I wish my Target had cakes because I would be over there right now buying myself one!

Congratulations you two on a beautiful wedding and it was a pleasure being there with you during it! I look forward to building a fantastic album and photographing you more in the future!

Matt and Lisa: Maryland Wedding Photography

I met Lisa through the CRTC events that I photograph and we got along right away! Lisa is also the woman who informed me about Shoe Dazzle and beware ladies...if you have a shoe addiction you should steer clear of this website! She and Matt are a totally adorable couple and I only wish I had gotten to spend time with them! They only needed me for a really short time, but we got all the photos we wanted! We had to deal with the rain as well at their, but we still managed to get out there and take some beautiful photos! My lenses were fogging up so we got this fun haze on some of the images, but it really couldn't be helped with the silly humidity! Matt is a big car buff and we didn't have the chance to get them with his baby (aka the car) because it was raining, but maybe we can get back together and do some more photos in the future! I am totally car clueless, but I would love to learn! It was such a joy to be there for the time I was and I wish you all the best of luck starting a family right away! Hope your honeymoon was fabulous and I look forward to getting you the rest of your images!

Blake and Jessica: Maryland Historic Londontown Wedding

Blake and Jessica were the lucky winners of five inches of rain on their wedding day! We had no idea that it would rain on our parade that much, but it was still a gorgeous wedding. There was literally a river (of love) going through the wedding tent and an indoor waterfall bar at the event. Jessica was a totally awesome bride for taking the day as it went and she looked fabulous doing it! The outfits for the brides maids were awesome. I have considered buying one myself and that is HUGE. I still have to ask Jessica where they were from! I think it was Davids Bridal. I see so many dresses and this is honestly one I think you COULD wear again. The flowers were by Flower Follies and I think they did a PHENOMENAL job! The wedding planners from Party Girls did a great job rolling with the rain punches and made the day run smoothly.

The ceremony was so beautiful because they really incorporated Cailin their daughter into it. I started tearing when they said vows to her about being good parents and by giving her a ring as well. It was such a touching moment and I know she will remember it forever. Cailin was adorable as she spent the majority of the day flirting with the ring bearer...who I am guessing might have been 4 or 5... Totally cute!

Thanks to my AWESOME massage therapist Corrine from Even Keel for referring me to her brother Blake! I love it when I get a referral through someone I know!

We were all disappointed that the weather didn't cooperate on the day of the wedding and Blake and Jessica wanted to get out there the week after and take some more photos!! Jessica's Flowers were still alive enough for us to have them along, she got her hair and makeup redone and we got to take the photos we both wanted! I didn't think I had much time to re photograph them that day because of a meeting, but I got totally carried away and we ended up shooting for over an hour! It just goes to show what a fantastic couple and great light can do to me! I lose track of everything! Thanks to Jessica's dad for taking care of the little ones while we ran around taking photos! SO much fun guys and I am really happy to have done it for you!

Joe and Bailey : Washington DC Wedding

I had so much fun with Joe and Bailey on their wedding day! The church in georgetown was the church that Bailey was baptized in so it meant a lot for them to be married there. I love the fact that people have so much history with certain places. It makes me wonder where that place is for me. All of us were totally confused after the ceremony because there wasn't an official you may kiss the bride, but somehow we got a kiss shot!

The reception was at the St. Regis in Washington DC and WOW is that place stunning. I hope I get to do more weddings there because they fed everyone REALLY well. We had mini kobe beef burgers and mini milkshakes at the end of the night. I highly recommend this venue because the service and food was impeccable.

My second shooter Tony Lewis was awesome and I am really excited about the images we captured. These are just the beginning!

Eric and Janell : Married at Camden Yards in Baltimore!!

Eric and Janell’s Wedding turned out to be an absolutely perfect day in Baltimore. We were worried about rain and heat, but neither seemed to effect the wedding! I arrived early and was able to lunch with the fabulous bridesmaids and Janell! I was amazed at her calm demeanor as she was putting together her signature book up to the last minute! She was probably one of the calmest brides I have seen in a long time! She actually kept quoting things from my words of wisdom sheet I give to all my brides! Thanks for taking it all to heart Janell! You are awesome!

Her wedding coloring and design seemed straight out of the store Anthropologie! The girls wore these awesome yellow patterned dresses, Janell had her yellow heels, this fantastic home made pin on her dress she bought from an artist on Etsy, and the flowers were totally locally grown from this awesome company called Local Color Flowers

The Reception was in Camden Yards!!
I was honored to have a chance to be on the field even before I have see my first game there! The staff and planner at Camden yards did a fantastic job setting everything up and making the room exactly as Janell had told me it would be. The local flowers were on each table, the place cards were corks from wines that Eric and Janell collected, and the table numbers were wine bottles with descriptors.

I had so much fun and Rachel Smith was an awesome second to have with me! Thanks to Eric and Janell and the awesome Wedding Party we had loads of fun and got some really sweet shots!

Janell I am so flattered that you have been blog stalking me and it is a pleasure to have you on here now! You were both so awesome to work with and I look forward to our next photo session!

Nathan and Bethany: Married at Mountain Christian Church

It was so awesome being there for Nathan and Bethany's wedding. I had never met them before the day of the wedding(which isn't usual for me), but we got along swimmingly from the very start. Bethany is drop dead gorgeous and totally loved having her photo taken which made my job WAY easier. They met swing dancing and made an awesome presentation at their first dance...steps and everything!! Enjoy marriage you two and don't forget to keep dancing your way through life together!

Mexico Photo Shoot with Richard and Melody

Richard and Melody are probably my favorite clients right now. What more can a photographer ask for but to be flown to Mexico for a photo shoot! We had a blast drinking Sol by the pool and then frolicking by the ocean taking photos! I am REALLY happy with the photos we got and these are just the beginning!

I photographed Richard and Melody's wedding two years ago as a second shooter for D Bryant Photography. Melody and I had an instant fun connection, but I didn't meet her again till a party that Ashley from Up Do's for I Do's had at her house. Since then I have photographed her Maternity photos, her family photos, and little Nicholas several times. I am so thankful to be a part of their lives and being there to photograph the events. Thanks so much you guys for being so good to me and loving my work enough to fly me to a different country to take photos. Chris and Kim : Alexandria Virginia Engagement Photo Sesssion

Chris and Kim are a fantastic couple. We had met once before at our consultation so you would think I would have realized how stunningly gorgeous Kim is! She shows up in these cute heels and Chris didn't have his glasses on so I felt like I was meeting them all over again for the first time. We had a perfect night in Alexandria to explore and take photos. They were so willing to play and even though Chris took a little more time to warm up to the kissing in public I got it out of him! There is something liberating and fun about having your photos taken in public and kissing! I will totally do it when I get around to finding someone to marry! We went out for Thai afterward to talk about their totally awesome family background and their wedding. I am really looking forward to spending time with you both on your wedding day and you really helped us make some gorgeous images! Thanks for wearing the cute shoes Kim even though they killed your feet. It was worth it!!!

Parents 40th Anniversary - Williamsburg VA

Congratulations to my parents! They have been married 40 years and counting. I took a trip down to Williamsburg on June 21st to be there for their celebratory brunch. The three of us wore black, white, and red so we looked like the most coordinated family in history. My mom had planned everything to a tee and we had a great time with 40 of her friends. I was so excited to do an engagement portrait of sorts with my parents. They looked so adorable and I am really happy with the photos I took of them together. I only hope I can laugh and love as much as they have in the last 40 years with my husband some day.

Night Out - Downtown Annapolis

I finally had a Saturday off on the fourth of July so I was able to go out with the friends around town in Annapolis on Friday night. Matt and Katie are an awesome artsy couple and totally in love! I am photographing their wedding in August for D Bryant Photography. They are a Match.com couple! They wanted to get photos with their two awesome dogs and I was more then happy to do it! I love animals and I always think it is important to take portraits with them! The four of them make a gorgeous little family. We had a rainbow that night, but I couldn't seem to capture it in the photo!!! Rainbows are tricky....it must be those leprechauns! Katie said that she has seen more rainbows since she met Matt then ever before in her life. What a great symbol that the love story is meant to be! The light in Baltimore on Federal Hill was so gorgeous and I couldn't help feeling like we had been transported back into the 60s with Katie in her hippy dress and Matt with his fabulous curls. They have such a natural feel to them and I think that came through in the photos! Thanks you two for hanging out with me for a couple hours and getting some really beautiful shots! Here are some examples of books and how arranging photos on your walls can be fun! I always enjoy using a range in sizes and frames to really make a statement in a room. Ask me about groupings that work for your home! It is always important when having a family portrait taken to visualize where you want the photos to go in your home! What is that one wall that needs something and what size or grouping will be best there? Coffee Table books are an awesome way to display your photos from a photo session! They can be out for family members to join and you can build your own personal image library!

Eric and Janell : Engaged in Baltimore

Eric and Janell are such a fun couple! We met up at Patterson Park to do their engagement session and I totally I LOVE that place!! We were in probably 5 or 6 different countries within a span of an hour because of the variety of places to shoot there. Janelle came all cute in a little red dress and was raring to go after a glass of wine! It is never a bad way to get ready for your portrait session! The two are in the wine business so I am going to pick their brains on what wines I should be buying now for the future. The three of us played around for about 2 hours and we even had a costume change!! It was amazing to see Janelle go from a gorgeous woman in a red dress to a funky gal in jeans. I am so excited to photograph their wedding! I couldn't be more happier for the two of you and I am so excited we get to see eachother for your wedding in less then a month. Congrats you two and thanks for being willing to play!

I photographed a wedding with Rachel Smith a couple weekends ago. We were way out in VA for a change. The rain decided to make the day a little more difficult, but we managed to get some great shots. My favorite one of the day is definitely Melissa looking back at me in the woods. I call it the wood nymph photos. Her dress was fabulous from the back and flowed so nicely when she moved. Their reception was pink galore and it definitely showed the advantages of lighting your space!

Tip of the day : For a photographer if you light the rooms or your reception it adds to the depth of our photos. It makes it easier for us to show the atmosphere as well. Lots of DJ's are offering lighting packages these days. They are worth the investment and make your reception even more gorgeous.

Tony and Bridget: An Eastern Shore Wedding

I photographed a wedding on Sunday with David Spence Photography at the Oaks in St. Michales. I am definitely putting this location at the top of my favorite venues! It is so gorgeous and it is almost impossible to get a bad shot there! David and I always have so much fun together photographing weddings!! I hope I can do more with him in the future.

I spent the beginning of the day in the smallest room imaginable with 6 guys getting ready. This is a trend it seems to keep the groomsmen in a really small room to get ready. It always leads to laughter, overheating, and some cramped photos. Guys make sure to get a bigger room or just get ready separately so you don't have to overheat before your wedding!! This is my gem of knowledge for the day. At the oaks the girls get a whole house to get ready....the guys weren't too happy about that when they found out.

It was another gorgeous night with the lights going up and down the dock and fire torches flickering reflections against the water. Getting night photos are always exciting and tricky but David and I didn't really get a chance to do one this time. If you want a great photograph to end your album with a night shot or a portrait around the end of your reception is perfect. Photographers love to play with light so if you are willing to step away from your reception for 10-15 minutes it is worth it in the end!

Joanna's Bat Mitzvah, Annapolis MD

I photographed Joanna's Bat Mitzvah a couple months ago and I am finally getting around to blogging about it! Thanks to everyone who has been checking with nothing new for a while!!!

I am always amazed at the amount of responsibility it takes to get through a Bar or a Bat Mitzvah. I am not sure I could have done it at 13 even though I was up on stage at that time singing and performing in plays. Joanna did a great job and has a totally gorgeous voice!!

We had a lot of fun taking photographs at Temple Beth Shalom and at her party that night at the Governor Calvert House in Annapolis! Her friends were up for anything so we got some really fun shots of everyone running, goofing around, and being teenagers l! Every time I go to one of these events it makes me wonder where the time has gone. I feel like I was a teen yesterday even though I am going to my ten year High School reunion in October!! At least I don't have to deal with teenage angst anymore!!

Justin and Brandee : Engaged

Brandee and I went to highschool together in good old Woodbridge, VA and we hadn't seen each other for at least 8 years! Unfortunately we re-connected too late in the game for me to photograph her wedding, but I was able to take some photos of them in DC! Their wedding was a couple weekends ago and I am crossing my fingers that the rain didn't affect the ceremony and fun potential DC photo session. We went to the Jefferson memorial with about five billion kids dressed in matching colorful tee shirts. I was wondering if someone was doing it as a joke there were so many! We worked around the complete mayhem and got some great shots! They are a totally sexy couple and I am sure their wedding was phenomenal. Congratulations you two! Looking forward to my high school reunion when I get to see you again Brandee! Two times in 8 years is too little!

Pablo and Carmen had an absolutely fabulous wedding. There ceremony and reception was at a unique little venue called The Elm in Baltimore. They have gardens, and crazy art on the walls, antique cars out front, and a totally intimate atmosphere for a wedding. Carmen had a peacock theme and saved some money by making her own centerpieces with bamboo and peacock feathers. She is such a talented artist and I only hope I can get here to make one of her cool glass signs for me. Check her out on Etsy! Thanks you two for trusting me and having fun with the photography! Jeffery's Baseball Game

I am photographing Jeffery's Bar Mitzvah in a couple weeks and his mom wanted to get some cool shots to use at it of him playing baseball for a signature board and for the table arrangements. I didn't have much time with him before his game, but I think I got some fun moments. I even got to take a team shot! I really admire the moms that get out there to those games all the time! It has to be hot and time consuming, but you have to do it for the love of a boy right? I only hope I can be as dedicated when I have kids! I know this much...their games will definitely be photographed.

Knight Family

I have photographed the Knight family three times now! I love watching little kids grow up through my lens! I always have so much fun getting images of children because you never know what you are going to get. Moods can swing, tears can flow, giggles can overtake, and I have been told that the age of the child is how many minutes you have to photograph them. It was a gorgeous day and we all got doughnuts as a reward for being good at the portrait session. Including myself....

Lisa and her Bump!

My good friend Lisa from college is pregnant and had the pleasure of being the only person who has photographed her fabulous bump! She said that these photos might be the only ones from her whole pregnancy that she is actually showing the belly! Well I think it is gorgeous and I am honored to have gotten to record the moments we had together! She is such a fabulous woman and we had a blast during her shoot. These are the less risque ones that we took which I could actually put on the blog! Lisa's hubby had picked out some things for her to wear and they looked gorgeous.

When having your maternity photos done definitely come up with fun things to wear...Silky nightgowns, a man's white work shirt, some lacy lingerie, and fabric that you can wrap around yourself are a couple of ideas. Being willing to go outside can also get some awesome moments. The photos of Lisa and the tree were some of my favorites. Show that belly off and be proud! I know whenever I get a bump I will be showing it off left and right. Not happening for me any time soon though!! Congrats Lisa on your pregnancy! Can't wait to meet the little guy!

Nicholas - Almost One!

I can't believe that I have been around since before this little guy was born and now he is a little singing, crawling, character! Melody and Nicholas came over for a mini session at my house and he proceeded to try to tear down my curtains, crawl into my bathroom for mischief, and have general fun in a new environment. He looked great in his little striped blue shirt. This guy has some serious big feet and I won't be surprised if he will be using them sooner rather then later to drive Melody crazy by running around the house.

Homestead Gardens!

I had never been to Homestead Gardens before! My mom and my awesome friend Rebecca went with me. This place is a dangerous gardening heaven. Playing in my yard has gotten to be one of my favorite activities. I couldn't believe how many different things there were to buy! I bought some Black Eyed Susans because my dad LOVES them and this awesome curry spice plant. It smells so good. Now I just have to figure out how to actually make curry with it!

I am not usually a nature photographer, but the look of a lot of flowers just makes me happy. I also think that in order to photograph flowers and show them off the macro images of them are always the best. I always like the sensual nature of most orchids and strive to make my photos of flowers look as good as a Georgia O'Keeffe painting. You would think that a photo could do it, but I still think her paintings have so much more in them. She was photographed a lot over her life because she was married to Alfred Stieglitz . At various times in her life photos were taken by Ansel Adams, Yousuf Karsh, Alfred Stieglitz, Tony Vaccaro, Todd Webb, and Don Worth.

David and Tiffany - Engaged

David and Tiffany met me in downtown Annapolis and I could tell they were a fun couple by their tatoos and of course David's fun red shoes! They worked perfectly on so many of the backdrops that Annapolis has to offer. Maryland Ave was closed down for a street fair so we were able to shop, take photos, and chat through our time together. It doesn't look like it, but Tiffany is a mom! I wish I had gotten a chance to meet her kids because I bet they are totally gorgeous like her! Their wedding is in July and they tell me there will be stilt walkers, balloons and all sorts of craziness! Congrats you two on your engagement and thanks for being willing to have some fun on a hot day!

Annapolis Engagement Photos can be fun, but HOT! I have no idea what is going on with the weather this season, but I was hoping to creep into the hot weddings instead of having all of them sweltering all season long! At least I can lose weight while I am working, right? I have four August weddings so far and those will probably be the ones I need to strap a water bottle to my waist. If I could photograph weddings in a tank top and shorts I would, but I don't think it is appropriate to look like I am going to the beach during a wedding! I always wonder if the photographers that shoot on beaches all the time wear sandals and shorts. That sounds like fun and a lot cooler!!

Cameron and Heather : Married

Cameron and Heather's wedding turned out to be a perfect day. I was greeted at Heather's Mom's house with the most interesting hanging area for a dress. I love the ironic and strange moments I get to take photos of. I don't think I will ever forget the site of her fantastic dress hanging there with the deer head. The ladies looked beautiful in their blue dresses. Two of the bridesmaids are getting married within the year! Crossing my fingers that they come my way!

The ceremony and reception were at the Hunt Valley Country Club. I always love shooting there because the reception room has fabulous windows that overlook the golf course. I am really happy about the photos because we got a variety even if it did rain a little bit! They were both troopers getting a little wet for the good of the photos! Thanks guys! We did some group photos on the putting green.No doubt the pro club will hate me now from the divots those girls put in the grass, but I had to get the shots! Ikea: My Cat

A lot of you have met Ikea when you come for client meetings. She is always there to say hello to perspective clients and usually sits with me while we do our first meeting. She occasionally sits in great light and I have to take her photo. Sometimes she poses and other days it is "mom why are you sticking that big black thing in my face again" She isn't in her most posing mood here today, but I thought I should write a tribute to her. She keeps me sane while I stay up late retouching or snuggles me to keep me warm. It is amazing how close we can get to our animals. I couldn't see my life without her!

Easter Family Portraits

I have decided to do a yearly Easter Family Portrait Promotion. Why not have families get a great photo done on Easter when everyone is all dressed up and happy about looking for eggs? I started the promotion in my neighborhood so that it is easy for people to get to my location before or after church. We have such gorgeous flowering trees here so it coudn't be a better place to have a family photo done.

It was a cold day, but my clients were willing to have some fun to get the images we all wanted. The photos are a testimony to the joy of easter cookies and why little girls should wear bonnets!! So adorable. Happy bunny and egg day everyone!

Easter Brunch

My neighbor had an amazing easter brunch/potluck for all the neighbors to attend. I love my throwback neighborhood full of potlucks, happy hours, bunko, and community garage sales. We had flank steak, rosemary potatoes, lamb chops, lemon bars, and an assortment of other yummy treats. The kids had a hilarious easter egg hunt that made me nostalgic. I remember the days when I would play hot and cold with my dad and mom to find the remaining hidden eggs of my easter egg hunt. I guess I didn't realize how great I had it when I was little. Probably no one does till they look back.

The sun was not conducive to the most fabulous easter egg hunt photos. I always love battling the mid day light! These are my favorite photos of my little neighbor Sam and his mom. He is such a great little guy and he loves his mom so much!

I was so happy for Mike and Stacey on their wedding day! It has been a long time coming and they already have this fabulous little family including their dog Vegas and a couple cats to welcome them home from their Costa Rican honey moon. Baldwin Memorial is a gorgeous little church I had never photographed before. Everyone was so nice and it was a joy to work with them. The set up at Celebrations was gorgeous. The purple and green theme was lovely and Jason from Absolute Entertainment added up lights which made the room pop. Although the weather didn't hold up for us as much as I had hoped we still had a chance to do some photos out on the dock that I love. The water was eerily calm even though it was raining. We had a lot of fun together and the guests looked like they had a great time too. Congratulations you two and I'm looking forward to getting all the photos to you online!

My best friend Teresa came into town just in time to get snowed in with me! I have been photographing her from the very beginning of my "career" as a photographer. I used to carry my camera everywhere during college so her life is very well documented while we lived near each other. She got married in September so I told her to bring her dress along so we could have some fun shooting. It was a perfect snow day and she was more then willing to get out there in her dress. I think we got some really great shots and I wish there was more snow to play in around here for snowy engagement photos and portraits! Thanks Teresa for experimenting with me and still inspiring me in front of the camera! I know we joke that some day there will be a boo on her life in front of my lens, but it is very possible considering I have photographed her for almost 10 years now!

I was a second photographer for this one as well with Mary Gardella from Love Life Images. I photographed about 5 events with her in 2008 and I finally got my hands on the images so that is why I am posting them all now.

I can honestly say that this wedding had one of the most crazy receptions I have seen so far. Grandma was up dancing, they had a drinking contest between the bride and groom, and props. Such a nice group of people and such a fun time!

I photographed this wedding with Mary Gardella from Love Life Images. Lisa was such a gorgeous bride with her red hair and fair skin. She has this fantastic tattoo on her back that looks like angel wings. Personally I would never have one, but when I see people that have the guts and love for it I totally admire them.

The wedding was at Overhills Mansion. I have photographed several weddings there and the photos always turn out gorgeous due to the atmosphere. The staff is always great and actually feeds their vendors which is really important on a long work day like a wedding.

Word of Advice: I photographed one wedding ceremony at Overhills in the dark. If you want to have your ceremony at night for the romance I totally understand, but if it is pitch black and outside it definitely poses a challenge for any photographer you may hire. Have your event before it gets dark so there is enough light for it. Even more importantly if you choose to not see each other before the ceremony so the only time you have to do photos is in the dark. Why not have enough light to do it all and then your event can transition into a night full of fun for the reception. The more light photographers have for a ceremony the better! We hate to miss things from light constraints!

Meghan and Chris: Married

This wedding goes down in the books of one of the funniest moments of 2008. I met the groom and his groomsmen at a townhouse in Federal Hill and we proceeded to walk to the church with a stop at the bar in between. What we didn't anticipate was the bar they wanted to go to being closed and then the rain that made us be stranded in one of the very local grungy Baltimore bars. We all had a good laugh about our luck and got some fun shots in the bar. The lesson in this one is always have backup transportation even if you can walk to the church from your house because you never know what the elements will do. If it had been a bride we could have been in real trouble!

Their reception was at the Maryland Club in Baltimore which is a totally gorgeous place that is historic, glamorous, and makes you feel like you should be in Victorian garb to fit in with the setting. This was another wedding that I second shot with Mary Gardella from Love Life Images. She took some incredible shots of Meghan and Chris throughout the club. I only got a chance to see them recently and I was blown away!

Lindsay and Roy : Married

Lindsay and Roy got really lucky and had a beautiful day in for a July for their wedding. This is another wedding I photographed with Mary Gardella from Love Life Images. The ceremony was full of lots of emotions while the bride's dad sang her a song he wrote for the wedding. I actually ended up having to give tissues to the bridesmaids their were so many tears. It turns out that everyone at the wedding had gone to college together and they were a really close knit group. I have never seen so many people sing every single word of every song played at the reception. The mix of cultures and ages made the night full of great photos and touching moments.

This is a wedding I photographed with Mary Gardella from Love Life Images on July 4th at the Westin in Annapolis Maryland. I always love second shooting with her because she is an awesome photographer and we always have such a blast together! The Westin is a gorgeous Hotel to photograph because the lighting and architecture of the hotel accent any event there.

I didn't get to see any fireworks last year so maybe this year I will make it a point not to miss them! We weren't anywhere close to down town so getting firework photos were out of the question. Here is my word of advice for the day - If you have your event on a special holiday I think it is best to use it to your advantage! Not many people can have free fireworks on their wedding day!

Georgetown Hospital: Foot and Hand Center

I got an amazing opportunity to photograph at Georgetown University's Foot/Ankle and Hand/Wrist Center. I learned so much and saw things I never thought I would.

I started my life as a photographer wanting to be a photo journalist, but what I found out is how vulnerable you have to be in that field of photography. It is a major responsibility to respect and honor the people who let you photograph their lives. This experience put me one step closer to feeling what it might be like as a photojournalist and I definitely loved what I did.

I photographed the center for the whole day to capture the atmosphere of the center while patients came in to get their casts off and post operation check ups. I took head shots of the staff and doctors on a white background and a group shot with everyone laughing. I am hoping I captured the spirit of the center. They are hard working, but fun people.

Here are some photos of the fabulous Doctors at the Center.

Dr. McGuigan - Is an awesome doctor that specializes in Feet and ankles. He wears a suit instead of the lab coat so he definitely stands out when he is with a patient. We got along great too because he was in the Navy for years before he was a doctor.

Dr. Edwards - Specializes in Hands. I was so excited when I saw this photo of the xray behind him! He was such a blast to work with and we got some really silly photos of him that I can't post on here and embarrass him!

Dr. Cooper- Is on the cutting edge of surgery. I read somewhere before I met him that he used a cadaver tendon and fused it to another one in a live person to fix their foot!

Las Vegas Baby!

I went to WPPI in Vegas this year and there were over 10,000 photographers there! I met so many awesome photographer and learned so much to expand my business. Pete Redel is the guy in these photos. He is another fantastic Baltimore Photographer. We got a chance to explore Vegas and take some photos the last night we were in town. At the MGM grand they have LIONS! The whole city is one big adventure and shock. I stayed out way to late and I even gambled a little..won 30 dollars! The trip was a success and I loved spending some quality time with all my Maryland and Virginia photographer buddies!

Mikey and I had an incident last year..one involving my foot and his mouth, but there are no hard feelings. He came to visit the other day with his momma. I still don't see why they call him a little guy...he can definitely take up some space! Mr. Mick as he is called is getting old so I always make it a point to photograph him. Pets are so important to me and I know that getting them in their element will help them be remembered when they go on to dog and cat heaven.

Snow Day

There was a crazy ice storm last week and my cat ikea thought she should still go out. I think you can tell from the photo she isn't very happy. Usually she runs out into the snow, runs back to me, and then proceeds to tell me how unhappy she is that I made it so wet and cold outside. Like it is my fault somehow!! This time she just went for it.

I always forget how nasty Virginia and Maryland are when it snows because of the ice. When I lived in MA ice wasn't the issue. The issue was the fact that your car was completely snowed in. Not sure which I enjoy least. The good thing about my job is that I work from home and I don't have to go out in the ice to get where I work.

Mike and Stacey: Engaged

It was probably the most lucky day of weather we could have had in January! The temperature in down town Annapolis was fantastic, but Vegas ( their greyhound) still wore his cute little hoodie. Trees in Williamsburg

The thing I love about winter is the way the trees look! The stark contrast against the setting sunlit sky is always a shot I can't pass up. I want to enlarge a silhouetted tree on a wall somewhere in my house, but I can never quite get the right look. Thanks to Williamsburg I think that I will actually have the one I will use. I don't think I will stop being fascinated by their shapes, but at least now I can start looking at how to have a wall tree!

I photographed a wedding with Lora J Photography in New Jersey. We had a great road trip and it was a fabulous wedding to be my last of 2008. The guys were a trip! We got some hilarious photos as you can see! I got them being tigers, fish, and just silly!

The couple had a huge cake fight and the bride surprised the groom with a baby under her dress for the garter toss! Definitely eventful and I got some great shots!

Friends Foundation Holiday Party

The Friends Foundation is a group near and dear to my heart. The more I work with them the more I want to give them.

This year they gave 100,000. to the AAMC Outreach center. The event is always to gather everyone who has helped them throughout the year and to hold auctions to raise more money for the foundation. This was the 10th year of the party and I am so glad that I was a part of it. Thanks Friends for doing all that you do for the community and for helping so many people. I look forward to donating my time to you more in the future!

St. John Properties Holiday Luau Party

I had the honor of photographing the St John Properties party two years in a row and it just keeps getting better! It was held at the Visionary Arts Museum ( my favorite museum in Baltimore!!)The company is awesome to work with and they have the most fabulous decorations. The Hawaii theme this year was put together by P W Feats. As the guests pulled up to the museum they could see the St. John's theme projected on the wall and fire throwers greeted them. They were given leis by hula girls and could get drinks at the volcano bar downstairs! After cocktail hour they went upstairs for a feast, a hula show, and a band that kept them dancing late into the evening! I can't wait to see what you come up for next year! Happy holidays!

Success in Style is a fabulous organization with a wonderfully generous group of women working for it. A large donation came in on November 2nd from Hopkins University and we collected almost 40 boxes full of clothing for women in need. I actually had a chance to get to work this time (not behind the camera) sorting through the donations and putting everything in its place. If you have extra professional ladies clothing that you don't need/want anymore think about giving them to Success in Style. Check out their website and see what it is all about!

Donald and Lisa : Engaged

I am a fall nut. I love everything fall...pumpkins, butternut squash, leaves, campfires, and crisp fall days! I have a strange obsession with trees so when Donald and Lisa suggested and arboretum I was really excited. We met at the Cylburn Arboretum to do Engagement Photos and I was blown away at how gorgeous the place is. It is 207 acres of gardens, paths, and trees galore! Donald and Lisa were willing to get in the leaves and to explore the possibilities. Lisa bought a new ensemble for the event and they both looked snazzy in their outfits. Thanks you two for showing me a fantastic place in Baltimore to shoot and for having some fun with me. I definitely got my leaf fix this year thanks to you guys! Congrats on your engagement!

Thanks D Bryant Photography for hiring me to photograph this wedding. The bride got ready at the Pier Five Hotel in Baltimore Maryland and they were married on a Pintail Yacht. Thankfully it wasn't too chilly of a day and we were able to cruise into the evening without any rocky waters. Boat weddings are always a challenge, but fun. If you plan on having a boat wedding I suggest meeting before hand for photos if you want to have a variety of images. Make sure your guests are safe to get home after the event too because six hours on a boat can leave people a little tipsy...if you know what I mean. Happy sailing!

Thank goodness for the internet because these two found me via the web. I love technology! They live in Texas, but Zach has family in Annapolis. The weird thing is I worked with his Mom when I did my stint at the local newspaper. It always amazes me what a totally small world we live in!

We had a beautiful fall day for photographs in downtown Annapolis. Beth was working it for the camera and Zach was loving the fact that he got to kiss Beth a lot. PDA is the bomb....when there is a photographer around.

Their wedding is next New Years eve in Big Ole Texas! I am crossing my fingers fly me out for the event. They should be convinced by how much fun we had. I love you guys! I couldn't of had more fun at your wedding! It was one of the most perfect weddings I have seen so far...and that is saying a lot because I have been to hundreds!! The weather, the location, the dress, the flowers, and not to mention the love story were totally perfect.

Meg and Will met when they were 16. They started as friends and then blossomed into more over the years. The two are so perfectly matched for each other!! Their sense of style, the fun attitude they have toward life, and their romantic sweet natures. Meg had a lot of unique elements to her wedding. The flower girls threw petals that she had collected over the years from arrangements Will had given her and her grandmother's pin was used as an accent in her bouquet. She had polaroid cameras for her signature book and these fantastic brown chairs with orange covers for the ceremony.

Meg and Will let me experiment and had fun doing it! I got shots that I have dreamed about photographing. I was so fired up after the event I couldn't even sleep I had so much fun.

These two were friends then lovers! I know friendship is essential to a great relationship from personal experience, but also because Jeff and Jessica were laughing all night. Porch : The Cat

It doesn't look like it from these photos, but Porch is a big cat! He was found on a porch and that is how he got his name! The fact that he is the size of one makes his name even more appropriate. I met him years ago when I went to school at Virginia Tech, but it wasn't until my trip to NYC that we were able to reconnect. He enjoys begging for food, lounging belly up, and being scratched on a certain part of his back that makes him lick his paws uncontrollably.

Gracie is a special little dog and I was so glad to meet her finally! She enjoys her squeaky toy, her time on camera for Meg's blog, Enderby Nest, and of course her mom Meg!

I took a road trip to the Big Apple to meet my couple for next weekend's wedding. We had a fantastic time running around in the rain taking photographs in Brooklyn. We got some amazing shots - thanks to a police car shining his lights on an antique red truck. I can't wait for your wedding next week guys! We will have so much fun and thanks for having fun with the photo shoot. You can't let a little rain get in the way for photographs!

Jesse and Lyndsay: Married

These two couldn't be a more gorgeous couple! The wedding was at Towson United Methodist Church and the reception was at Martin's East in Baltimore.

They have been together about two and a half years and they met through a mutual friend. He proposed after a day of white water rafting at a romantic dinner. Supposedly he had joked that instead of buying her a ring he would buy a raft for her! Let me tell you the ring is fantastic and it isn't the size of a raft, but close! Good choice Jesse!

Introducing Trevor!
Trevor lives across the street from me! I think he looks an Ewok. If you scrunch up his face he could definitely be one. Trevor spends most of his day outside lounging and barking at my cat across the way. He enjoys laps, licking faces, and having hs belly rubbed. Squirrels and kitties beware. Doesn't the second one look like he was taking a nap. I love his little teeth!

I finally was able to take some photos of my new house. I love the colors and all of my new furniture fits the place perfectly!
